Showcasing My Engineering Projects

François REA

My Engineering Background

Currently in my final year at the engineering school Supmicrotech in Besançon, I created this website to showcase the interesting projects I have worked on over the past three years.

As a future Mechanical and Production Engineer, I have completed numerous CAD projects, and my final project focuses on the dimensioning of an autonomous electrical infrastructure, optimizing the configuration of wind turbines, solar panels, batteries, and hydrogen storage based on regional climate data. The goal of the project is to optimize cost, carbon impact, and energy efficiency over a 20-year period for four cities. You will also find several other projects that helped me acquire new skills, as well as the essential competencies required to become a well-rounded engineer in the future.

I am currently looking for a 6-month internship abroad to further develop my skills and gain international experience

My final engineer project

Power grid dimensionning for a 20 years duration

Currently working on this project, the goal is to dimension the electrical installation for 4 cities over a 20-year period.

The input data includes the year and weather conditions, while the outputs will be the installation cost, its efficiency (SUE), and its carbon impact. We will use multiple energy sources, including wind and solar power, as well as two storage systems: batteries and a hydrogen tank.

Through data analysis and optimization, we aim to find the perfect energy mix to minimize costs and carbon impact while maximizing efficiency.

GEAR REDUCER PROJECT

My first CAD Project

As a mechanical engineer, during my first semester, I completed a mechanical project on a gear reducer using Creo software. The main objectives were:

  • Sizing the gears
  • Proposing technological solutions for the realization of rotational guides.
  • Creating a complete CAD model of a feasible technical solution

Engineering office

Later in my studies, we worked on a project involving an automatic branch cutter, covering nearly every step from the initial need to the final product. The skills I have learned can be summarized as follows:

  • Creating functional specifications based on the client's requirements
  • Selection of the technical solution from scratch
  • CAD simulation & specifications validation
  • Engine, linkages & joints sizing

Methods office

The second aspect of the branch cutter project focused on creating a realistic CAD model and utilizing the Granta Design database.

  • Synthesis of the materials chosen using Granta Design
  • Criteria table
  • Eco-audit
  • Production range

IT PROJECT

Games project using the Scrum method

In the form of a multiplayer game project using the Java programming language, our team of five was introduced to the Scrum methodology. This allowed us to approach project management and task distribution effectively, particularly through the various sprints we conducted.

  • Practicing Java programming language
  • Map creation based on tile mapping
  • Task scheduling using the Scrum methodology

Economic and social sciences

Beer in all its forms:

the journey and challenges of

an experienced brewer

We conducted an interview with an experienced brewer from 'Les 3 Brasseurs.' During our conversation, we explored the art of brewing, discussing the steps involved in crafting quality beverages. Additionally, we gained insights into the business side of managing a brewery, learning about the challenges and strategies involved in running a successful establishment. This experience provided valuable knowledge in both brewing techniques and business management.

Additionally, I am currently concluding a similar project focused on the management of a company.

Ready to contribute to your team with innovative ideas and hard work. Let’s discuss internship opportunities!
